Brenda is President of the United Ostomy Association's Minneapolis chapter, is a patient advocate for 3C Colorectal Cancer Coalition and for ACOSOG (American College of Surgeons Oncology Group).
Brenda has an interfaith/intercultural marriage, is a mother of two teenagers that still like her, a keynote national speaker and author of two books, If the Battle is Over, Why am I Still in Uniform? and I'd Like to Buy a Bowel Please! She is also a columnist for a nationally syndicated medical newsletter and has written for national magazines.
